Lunar SMS is a School Management System used by educational institutions in Nepal. This policy explains how we protect data while helping schools manage academics, attendance, results, and more.

1. Role Definition

Schools are the data controllers. We act as a data processor and process data only on behalf of schools.

2. Information Processed

Student and Academic Data:

• Name, roll number, class, section
• Parent/guardian details
• Attendance, exams, results, reports
• Other school-entered academic records

School and Staff Data:

• School profile and settings
• Teacher and staff accounts

3. Purpose of Processing

• Operate school management features
• Generate reports and academic records
• Ensure security and authentication
• Provide technical support

4. Data Sharing

• With schools (primary controller)
• Authorized support staff (under confidentiality)
• Trusted cloud providers (with data protection agreements)
• Legal authorities if required by Nepali law

5. Data Storage

Data is stored on secure servers with HTTPS encryption. Hosting may be located inside or outside Nepal with appropriate safeguards.

6. Data Retention

Data is retained while the school uses the service. Upon termination, schools may request export or deletion.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures: HTTPS encryption, access controls, and system monitoring to protect data.

8. Children's Data

The system processes student data (including minors) only on behalf of schools. Schools are responsible for obtaining parental consent where required.

Students, parents, or staff with questions about their data should contact their school administration first.

9. WebView

Our mobile app uses WebView to display Lunar SMS content. External links may follow third-party privacy policies.
